Selling Books from Home for Profit
Selling Books from Home is a great opportunity because just about everyone loves to read.
Every year more and more books are available. No matter what kind of books interest you, the industry is going strong.
One of the part-time businesses I did was selling used books and records. It proved to be a very profitable proposition for me. Plus, I enjoyed the time I spent buying the books and then re-selling them.
Basically I went to garage and yard sales and purchased the books. What I looked for was either purchasing them all at a very low price as a group lot. Such as 10 cents a book. Or, paying up to one dollar per book depending on how easy the book would resell. My only concern was getting to the garage/yard sales before the local used book store owners got there. They could afford to spend more because they sold them for more than I did.
However, if you plan on having a store in your home. Or possibly renting a space and reselling used books, you could afford to spend more per book also. I sold the books at flea markets and looked at a quick turnover. In the winter I set up my garage and sold the books from the garage. This type of set up brought in a pretty decent part-time income.
