Web design and programming can be extremely time consuming and have a steep learning curve. There are plenty of good software programs that can help you put up your website quickly, efficiently and economically. Your time is probably better off spent on marketing and sales efforts to drive traffic to the website. Leave the design of your website to the experts.

4. Showcase your products in their best light. Use whatever techniques you need to, to make your products look good on the website. The entire point of the web design effort is to sell more products. If you are selling music CDs or cassettes have audio recordings on your website that will allow users to get a feel of what they are buying. If you are selling ebooks, display them like you would a hardcover book. Design an attractive virtual cover for the ebook and put it up for sale. If you are creating an online ezine then create good content that people want to read.

Thus, a successful design for a website is one that addresses the entrepreneur’s needs and compels customers to buy.
